Lake Holiday Testimonial

Dear OakCrest Builders:

I would like to begin by simply stating without hesitation that in contracting with OakCrest Builders to construct our home located in the serene setting of Lake Holiday, Cross Junction, Virginia, my wife Janet and I embarked on the most pleasant, non-confrontational, and cooperative experience we have ever engaged in regarding any sales or business-related entity. From our initial contact with OakCrest’s Lake Holiday on-site sales team, consisting of Marsha McKee and Rick Butler, to the early stages of obtaining financing via Tina Crane, Mortgage Representative with OakCrest Mortgage, and finally, to our meetings with Ivan Snapp and his team of subcontractors during which we outlined exactly what features and upgrades we desired in the construction of our dream home, we derived a true sense of security that our needs would be met to the fullest. I don’t recall us receiving anything but support from the OakCrest team, and an unprecedented enthusiasm on their part to provide us with everything we desired regarding the construction of our home.

To highlight their commitment to excellence shared by each OakCrest employee shared by each OakCrest employee or representative with whom we dealt, I must point out we were in a rather tense situation as we counted down the weeks to moving in to our OakCrest home. When we first met with Marsha and Rick in March 2006, the Northern Virginia real estate market was beginning to show signs of an unexpected slow down in sales. Yet, in order to purchase our Lake Holiday home, we were required to sell our won home located in Ashburn, Virginia. So, when Janet and I signed a contingency contract with OakCrest, we were full of confidence that by the time the house was completed originally set for July 2006, our only problem would be where would we reside awaiting that date to arrive. As we all know, the D.C. housing market went south, and when July arrived we were still in the town home without any foreseeable prospective purchasers. Despite our precarious situation, Marsha, Tina, Ivan and the rest of the OakCrest team worked us, first providing contract extensions, and then slowing down the construction process until that day arrived when a young family expressed an interest and finally bought the townhouse. Never did we receive a sense from any OakCrest employee that the pressure was on and we must sell or else.

During this depressing period, Marsha was especially supportive. I recall hearing her respond to my concerns that we would lose our lake house by saying, “Don’t worry, you won’t lose that home.” During this period, we made frequent visits to the construction site, trying to find something wrong with our future home or the community, anything that would ease the fall should we fail to sell in time to meet the contingency. However, we always left with a feeling that the deal had to go through. We believed in our heart of hearts that we belonged in an OakCrest house on Lake Holiday. Even one of our prospective Lake Holiday neighbors cheered us on stating, “I know you will get you house.” In fact, on the day our future buyer’s Realtor® contacted us, we had just pulled away from the home site after hearing that neighbor relate that she would “say a prayer that you guys will sell your home.”

Indeed we did sell our home, and thanks to Marsha, Tina, Rick and Attorney McCarthy, closing on our OakCrest residence was a breeze. So, on December 16, 2006, we officially moved into what was to be the greatest Christmas gift for which we could have asked. As we took possession of the home, Ivan conducted a walk through pointing out even the most intricate detail in terms of the various nuances associated with the dwelling. And even as of this writing the OakCrest folks continue to provide support. As with any newly constructed home, you are going to find a chip here or a leak there; however, in our OakCrest home, our “punch-out list” was the shortest I have ever written. No matter how small the problem, the post construction attention we received from Gene and Doug was exceptional. Furthermore, under OakCrest’s homeowner’s warranty protecting our new home, Janet and I are confident that all future problems will receive immediate attention.

In closing, I would like to thank everyone at OakCrest, and I know there were many who played a role in helping us realize our dream of owning what can only be called the most perfect house in Lake Holiday.
